Invade Seattle

Our Thorns are taking on the Seattle Reign on Saturday, May 25th, and we want to make sure we show Starfire what support looks and sounds like, so we’re chartering a bus up north for the day.

Our bus is wheelchair accessible with a lift and will have space for 50 loud and proud Riveters!! If you need tickets to the match and also want to ride the bus, we have 20 of those tickets available at $50 each. If you have already purchased your match ticket and are just looking for a fun and exciting day with us, those tickets are $32 ($30 bus ride + $2 in site fees). Please use the link below to purchase the appropriate tickets. (Please read to the end of this post before attempting to purchase tickets through Eventbrite.)

We have a pretty full day planned, as there is also a Timbers match in DC. We didn’t want to be on a bus while the boys played, so we included a viewing party into the bus trip! The bus of Rose City Riveters will be joining up with the Timbers Army Seattle crew TA Covert Ops at the Elliott Bay Brewing Co in Burien, WA for the Timbers’ 4 p.m. kickoff. Food and beverage at Elliott Bay are not included in the price of the trip.

After the Timbers match, we will make the 10 minute drive over to Starfire Sports Complex. The Thorns kickoff at 7 p.m. against the Hope-less Reign!!

A full event itinerary is below:

11:30 a.m. – Board bus at the Convention Center (NE Holladay St)
12 – 12:15 p.m. – Depart Portland
3:30 p.m. – Arrive at Elliott Bay Brewing Co to watch the Timbers v United match
6:00 p.m. – Depart for Starfire Sports Complex
 7:00 p.m. – Thorns v Reign kickoff
 9:15 p.m. – Depart Starfire Sports Complex
12 a.m. – Arrive back in Portland

Some smaller details – Personal food and beverage is permitted on the bus. We will not be providing a keg on this trip, though adult beverages are permitted as long as they are not in glass bottles. No glass is allowed on the bus.

Please note: bus tickets/combos will be available through Eventbrite starting at 8 a.m. Sunday, May 12. Please plan accordingly.

    1. I’m not sure any stop that includes 50 people is quick.

But I’ll defer to the travel folks to answer properly.

      1. well by quick i meant like 10 mins. enough time for people to use the bathroom and have a quick smoke maybe.

    2. While we haven’t scheduled a stop for the way up or the way back, I can call the bus company on Monday to see if that can be worked in. We had thought that since we aren’t finishing off kegs on this trip, a rest stop might not be needed. I did not think about the smoke break factor, though.

I’ll post here once I know if we can get the breaks included.

      1. well i know before on away trips the bathroom on the bus filled up and we couldnt use it on the way home so those 2 little bathroom stops would help the bus not get filled. im just a cautious person. lol

    1. Yes, though they should be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Elliott Bay, where we will watch the Timbers match, is family friendly.

      1. Now I’m laughing at myself. If you’re 18 – 20, you don’t really need to bring your mom. Unless your mom is really cool. Then, by all means, bring her.

  1. I see the bus/ticket combo is sold out, but seats remain on the bus.

    Three questions.

    – Is this a family friendly even? I have 16 yo daughter who wants to attend? I presume no problem on the bus, but want to be sure she’ll be allowed in the pub to watch the Timbers.

    – If we buy tickets directly from rain(sp) will be able to sit with the riveters?

    – If we decide to drive up, are we still welcome for the Timbers viewing?

    Cheers, ~hb

    1. This is a family-friendly event. We do expect that some of our of-legal-age attendees will bring adult beverages with them on the bus (NO GLASS CONTAINERS! Thanks.). Elliott Bay, where we will be stopping to watch the Timbers match, is all ages.

We are working on getting more match tickets and reopening the bus/ticket combo when/if we get them. Tickets are still available directly from the Reign front office. We’re suggesting Riveters purchase bleacher tickets so we can all try to sit together. Starfire and the Reign have not designated an away supporters section, though we hope that a good showing this time will change that for future events.

If you do decide to drive up on your own, you’re absolutely welcome to join us for the Timbers viewing. The more, the merrier.

  2. Another question. I see that bus tickets are still available but not the bus/ticket package (which seems odd to me). I assume this means I can still ride the bus but need to by my bleacher seat ticket separately. Correct?

    1. We’re working on getting more match tickets and reopening the sale of the match/bus combo. We should know in the next day or two, but if you’re nervous, you can purchase match tickets directly from the Reign FO.

  3. Eventbrite has been updated. We have fifteen match ticket/bur travel combos left. If you haven’t purchased yet, don’t wait until the last minute. GO GO GO!
